About Our Staff

At Bramblings, we have a unique structure amongst single site care homes. We have in post a Head of Care as well as a Registered Manager.

Registered Manager – Bernadette Ramsey

Bernadette is a Registered General Nurse of 40 years experience, much of which was spent in the elderly care specialty as a Staff nurse, Ward Sister and Service Manager with local health trusts. She has a BSc Health Studies degree and the Registered Managers Award.

Bernadette also holds a teaching qualification, is an Adult Abuse trainer, an NVQ Assessor and Internal Verifier and undertakes much of the mandatory training for staff and also supports staff through their NVQ awards.

As Registered Manager, Bernadette is responsible for the day to day running of the Home where she uses her array of skills and experience to best enhance the quality of life of our residents.

Bernadette is also responsible for developing and reviewing the policies and procedures of the home and monitors current research and changes in the industry to ensure ‘best practice’ in all aspects of care is implemented and monitored.

‘I have always chosen to work with the elderly as historically they have been the poor relation of the health services and I wanted to champion their cause. I believe that I along with the management have made significant changes to the standard and perception of residential care at Bramblings and such was my confidence in the home that my own father happily spent his last 2 years as a resident here’.

Deputy Manager –Julie Wilcock

Julie Wilcock is the Deputy Manager of Bramblings. Julie has a wealth of work experience in customer care. Julie lived for many years in Cyprus where she managed a retail outlet.

Julie joined Bramblings a little over a year ago after working in the community visiting people in their own homes and supporting their independence.

Julie has shown a real commitment to the needs of our residents and an enthusiasm to learn and take on additional roles. She is very motivated to learn new skills and has excelled in training completing her NVQ3 in record time, has completed all mandatory training and achieved the Safe Administration of Medicines award. She is currently studying for a Management in Health and Social care level 3 qualification and will then complete her level 5 in Leadership and Management which is a requirement for a Registered Manager.

Julie’s warm and caring nature is an asset to Bramblings. She is respected by residents and colleagues alike and is available to answer any queries you may have.
As well as the Management Team, Bramblings employs designated kitchen staff, laundry and ancillary staff, an activities coordinator and a team of fully trained, accredited and highly skilled carers who appreciate the principles and values of the Home.
